Club grading

SCNA grading

14 and 21 March 2026

OVERVIEW

The grading process

This year we have two external graders and two internal club graders; the two internal club graders do not have children playing in divisional teams.

All divisional players and Net Set Go White players to attend the grading day on the 21st February.

ON THE DAY

What to expect

Parents

We ask that parents be prompt at arrival and pick-up times.

We prefer parents to be well away from the grading area, as this can make the girls nervous and less likely to trial well.

Parents please refrain from talking to the graders. There will be desk area set up with officials in attendance, all parents will be directed to them if you have any concerns about your child's grading etc.

These officials will be the only persons allowed to approach the Graders with any relevant concerns.

Arrival time

Players need to be at the courts at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the session. This is to allow time to sign in, have a number written on their legs and arm, so the graders can easily identify them on court and to warm up.

Players need to bring plenty of water and to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for strenuous physical activity (no short denim shorts to be worn).

GRADING

Positions and team selection

Players are graded into teams as Shooters (GS, GA, WA), Midcourt (WA, C, WD) and Defenders (WD, GD, GK), typically 3 of each per team.

While every effort is made to give players time in their requested position sometimes this can be impossible.

As mentioned above, because of the number of girls wanting to trial in the same position. Players will always be given an opportunity to trial in the nearest position if we are unable to meet the original request (that is, if lots of players want to trial in GA some may have a turn in GS).

Tentative teams will be run as squads at Club training sessions, where we can move them up or down accordingly till we are satisfied we have them in their correct teams, before announcing them.

NB : Please do not contact the Club or Grading Convenor prior to this to see what team you are in.

We ask you to trust the process, trust the graders and speak confidently with your child on the amazing year they will have.

GRADING

Disputes

Mooloolaba Reds Netball Club recognises that players and parents/guardians of players disagree at times with the grading decisions made.

If a family member consider that their child has been unfairly treated in the grading process they must submit their concern in writing to the complaints officer at feedback@mooloolabareds.com.

Members of the grading Committee will reconvene to consider the complaint and will advise the family of their decision. If the player or parent/guardian of the player is still of the view that the grading process is not fair, then the matter will be referred to the Executive Committee to be dealt with at its next meeting and to be resolved as it sees fit.

Mooloolaba Reds Netball Club is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all volunteers including our Grading Convener, Committee Members, Grading Assessors and Coaches.

Any form of abuse or harassment of volunteers as a result of disputed grading decisions will not be tolerated.
